project walk

In a previous article "Let's do a project for the science fair green" We had a look at the effects on soil erosion and rainfall logging of tropical forests. Our theme is yet to look at how nature works and what we can do to preserve our planet. Today we look at trees and how they grow. We will try to understand why they are different in different parts of the world. This is a very good science fair project for someone who is interested in nature and loves going for walks. Remember, when you are doing this project for the science fair to have an adult with you to ensure your safety. Please do not go wandering on their own. To be honest this is probably a good project for the science fair for adults too! A walk in nature is always relaxing.
In different parts of the world, the trees grow differently depending on the type of weather you get in different parts of the world. This is a good project for the science fair, not only to learn about trees, but also what the effect of weather is in how trees grow. Trees can be studied in their garden or when going for a walk in a park. Select an area that has lots of different trees that can be studied.
First we need to know more about trees in general before proceeding. You get several different types of trees. In the rain forest in Ecuador, the climate does not change much in winter and summer have temperatures are very close together. We have seen how trees influence rainfall in our previous article. In tropical forests, most trees are evergreen as heat and water are not a problem. In areas where the climate is mild broad-leaved trees have shed over the winter to decrease metabolism of trees and conserve water for when it is less abundant because the groundwater is frozen and this also reduces damage by frost.
Our first project will be to try to identify some of the trees in our area and then in a later project we are going to measure them.
This is what you need to help identify them:
* A field guide to local trees
* A notebook
* A pen
* Colored pencils
Here's what to do when identifying trees:
1.Whilst walking in the area you have chosen, try to identify the trees according to their field guide.
2.Look in these things the general height and shape of the trees.
3.Use the appearance of the bark and leaves to compare with your field guide. Note the color and shape of leaves and fruits and seeds of trees to help.
4.Make meticulous notes and drawings on the screen.
5.Give attention to the height of trees to help.
6.If that you can take samples of leaves, fruits and seeds. (Do not take it from trees, because it is prohibited in most people as the damage to trees, only collect leaves, fruits and seeds that have fallen naturally.)
7.To use as a part of the screen, press between the pages of a book. (Place between them a tissue to prevent their juices from damaging the book.)
8.When get home, not the screen and note the features you have used to decide on each tree.
9.Give minute details of all motives such as color and shape of leaves, fruits or seeds.
10.Try to read up on trees and use it as motivation for their decisions.
Now you know more about trees, leaves and seeds, you can understand why remove tropical forests are such a bad idea?
This is a very good science fair project for budding biologists.
